The contaminant filtering and moisture reducing functions performed by the Accumulator in the 1977 Pontiac Grand Prix were performed by Filter-Driers in the 1962-early 1973 Grand Prix’s and by VIR’s (Valves-in Receiver’s) in the late 1973-1976 Grand Prix’s. VIR’s combine the Expansion Valve, POA Valve and Accumulator into one valve.
