If you’ve been thinking about having your 87-93 Fox Body Mustang A/C refurbished, a new article by our friends at Mustang Monthly will give you a good idea of what the process entails. Using an 89 Mustang GT as an example, the October 2012 issue demonstrates step by step how to remove the original A/C, ship it off to CAA to work our magic, and then install the remanufactured system.
The article covers the removal of the dashboard, steering column, console, and plumbing. As well as the installation of the spacers, brackets, seals, studs, resistor pack, compressor, and other items. You’ll see how to trim the bracket and get a look at the R-134a conversion system.
The authors recommend taking photos yourself when doing the removal and re-installation, as there is a lot to keep track of. They also indicate a few parts your older Mustang might need to accommodate the new system. These parts also include spacers and evaporator drain seals, and where to find them.
Mustang Monthly’s cooperation was invaluable as we developed our new line of climate control systems and parts for the 87-93 Mustangs. We were very glad to hear that our new products met the very high standards of these Mustang experts. Their team praised the convenience and ease of use of the components, especially when converting to R-134A, and our devotion to making sure the new parts work like the old system wherever possible.
All of Classic Auto’s remanufactured climate control assemblies can be installed in your home garage and serviced by any licensed technician. For more information about our A/C restoration services, contact us today.
